There are actually three of us, Myself "Pono", Hal or "Keli'i Koa", and
Keola-some day someone will get a pic of him too. I have a few friends who,
when in Maui will also hang out and learn from  Hal, but I am the one and
only here on the Mainland really making these lures all the time. One of the
guys who learned from Hal lives here too. He has the ability to make some
awsome lures too and often shows me up a good one....hopefully some day
he'll be helping me, Ya Wes you got the gift too. Hal and I are watchin ya.
"Eh nani ke kumu" which means "look to your teacher"
.
Bottom line is that we are all just fishermen and women, who love fishing
and making lures. We love being on the water, in the water, or under the
water!

OUR BUSINESS
Our business....Well it started in the early 80's with Keola making one design and running it.
(that mold is still being used today) It worked well enough that Keola and Hal got together and
made a few more molds. Within a few years there were multiple designs being pulled around a
lot of the Hawaiian waters. Then their good friend was lost in an accident and they stopped

ever on the Mainland. Pictured from left to right-Steve Carroll (EKE
Hauna), Keola, Hal (Keli'i Koa), and me (Pono). Keola and Hal (two
center) were the inspiration for developing the concept of marlin
lure to putter Steve makes, which you can see at:
, and obviously Hal and Keola are the
two who have taught me how to make Marlin lures
