Custom Lures
In 2005 I was asked to fish a small Lanai Memorial Fishing tournament
with a few local guys who were friends of Hal n Keola. The Dee Kuaffman
Memorial Fishing Derby was the official name. Ken Kauffman was one of
the funniest fishermen I have  had the privilege to meet. We didn't do really
great, but we sure had a fun day. Afterward Ken invited us all up to his
place, and to my happy surprise, offered us each one of his hand made
bowls. I received a beautiful Milo bowl for my participation....he didn't
realize I felt so honored to be asked to fish with him that I felt I should be
the one offering a gift, not him. I learned that this was just the kind of man
he was. The next year I was invited back again but for unforeseen
circumstances couldn't make it back for 2006. Then last year the sad news
came that Ken too had now passed. OUCH! I am honored with my
memories, and am going to now be able to return the gift by making some
very special Marlin Lures for 2008! Aloha, to a good man.
